The Grudge (2020) is the second American remake of the original Japanese horror film. its coming out in January 2020 and will be rated R in the US (probably 15 in the UK), the film is produced by Sam Raimi which has been a highly advertised aspect of this remake. This is directed by Nicolas Pesce, its his third direction credit, his other two films were okay. he’s probably best known for directing The Eyes Of MyMother, unfortunately I have yet to see any of his work.
This trailer shows us the basics of what we know about The Grudge already and even includes some of the classic and most well known scenes from the previous two films. However it also looks like they might be talking it in a slightly different direction which I can’t wait to see, it also looks a lot darker than the previous remake which is something I wanted from this. I don’t just want this to be another money grab remake, I want them to bring something new to the story but sadly my hope are not that high after the last remake we had of this film, however i’m hoping to be surprised.
Overall I have to say that I liked this trailer I thought it was well edited and didn’t give too much away of the overall film. I also really liked the use of the Grudge sound over the trailer, that sound always used to freak me out and I think they used it to great effect.
We will probably be getting a longer trailer for this closer to the day of release but from this trailer I do want to go see the film just to see if it will surprise me by being good. What did you think of the trailer? Are you excited for this remake or do you just not care?
Thank you for reading,
