Hello! I know that its been a while since I last posted but a lot has happened, and due to everything I haven’t wanted to post anything, I was even in a reading slump for a couple months. I’m back now though and ready to start poster regularly again!
I actually managed to read a total of 6 books this month with a total of over 2900 pages.
Attachments by Rainbow Rowell. 3/5 stars
I’m really into romance books at the moment and I’ve been wanting to read this for a while now after hearing good things about it from most people. However, this book just wasn’t for me I enjoyed the emails between Beth and Jennifer, but I just couldn’t connect or sympathise with Lincolns character. I’ve posted a more in-depth book review here:
Zom-B by Darren Shan. 3/5 stars,
I enjoyed it but it was a bit slow moving for me, it was more a book about B’s life and her family. I was also not a big fan of B’s character and some of her decisions and attitudes throughout this book, parts of it just made me feel angry and uncomfortable. This book wasn’t what I’d hoped it would be but I still found it somewhat enjoyable, although I don’t know if I will be continuing with this series.
The Poet X by Elisabeth Acevedo. 4/5 stars.
This was defiantly one of the best books I read last month, its told in verse which I really liked and the story was interesting and fresh. I really loved reading some of the poems in this, they were so beautiful. I would highly recommend picking up this book if you haven’t done so already.
Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall 4/5 stars
I absolutely adored this book, it was full of some really sweet moments along with moments that almost made me cry. If you liked Red White and Royal Blue then I think you’ll like this one. I’m planning on posting a longer review of this later but I would highly recommend this book. This book just made me feel happy, I love all the characters, I loved the fake dating trope and I loved this little bits of drama that were sprinkled in.
Berkley House by Ron Ripley 4/5 stars
So I’ve been wanting to read more horror/paranormal books because I’m a huge fan of the horror genre, yet I don’t really read many horror books. I saw this on kindle unlimited and decided to try it out, I was not disappointed. This book was spooky and the perfect book not to read before bed. This book was a really quick read so if your looking for something short I’d recommend this. I plan to read the rest of the series but I’m going to wait until October.
Lovely War by Julie Berry 5/5 stars
This book follows the lives of two couples during WW1 and the best part, its told from the point of view of the Greek gods. This book is the best romance/historical fiction book I’ve read this year and I will recommend it to everything because I think it deserves more love. I was never bored while reading this book, I actually found it hard to put down I just fell so in love with the story and the characters. It’s also nice to see a story written during WW1 I feel like most war stories we get are set in WW2. Please go read this book, its so beautifully written.
