Hello! So this is the list of MY top 10 zombie films of all time, you may disagree with some of these and thats completely fine. If there is a film that I’ve left off this list tell me what it is because maybe I just haven’t watched it yet. I’ve been a fan of zombie films since I was in my early teens and still love them even today when the zombie has been done to death, I still love it though and think there are still some amazing zombie films coming out and I can’t wait for more.
10. 28 Weeks Later (2007)
This is the sequel to the 2002 film 28 Days Later, in terms of sequels this is a solid one that was almost just as good as the first. In this film America have helped to contain the virus but that obviously doesn’t last. I liked this film the characters and the plot were good but for me the first film is miles better. However I wish that we would get the final film in this trilogy but at this point in time it looks unlikely. the end of this film left off with the infected taking over Paris and I wish we could see the results of what happened.
9. Rec (2007)
One of the best Spanish horror films that more people need to watch, I feel like most people just watch Quarentine which is an okay remake but this film is so much better. Its also a great found footage film, the second film is also worth a watch.
8. Land Of The Dead (2005)
A George A Romero classic that I don’t think people talk about enough, this is such an interesting film with a twist to the classic zombie that somehow leaves us feeling sorry for them. This film features a great cast and plot, I really love it and would highly recommend watching it especially if you’re bored with the traditional zombie.
7. Re-Animator (1985)
This was a very recent watch for me and I absolutely loved it, honestly I didn’t really know about this film until a couple of months ago and I can’t believe it. Everything about this film is just great, its a really fun film to watch with a great cast and some dark humour. There are also two sequels to this film that I still need to watch and will do as soon as possible.
6. 28 Days Later (2002)
An absolutely brilliant film by Danny Boyle, well acted, well directed and written this film is a must watch for anyone that loves zombie/horror films. I struggled at where to put this on my list, it was so close to being in my top 5.
5. Zombieland (2009)
A hilarious horror/comedy that’s a perfect mixture of the two. It has some great and funny zombie kills along with an A list cast. This was one of the first zombie films I watched and it helped me to fall even more in love with the genre. A sequel has been released this year and if it’s anything like this one I’m sure that i’ll love it!
4. Night Of The Living Dead (1968)
How can this not be on the list? This is the film that created the modern zombie, its thanks to George A Romero that we even have all these zombie films. This is a horror film that everyone needs to watch.
3. Dawn Of The Dead (2004)
One of the best horror remakes out there by director Zack Snyder, this was originally at the number two spot on this list for so long because its that good. Its been a favourite of mine for years now and it will always be. I actually like this better than the original and I hardly ever say that about remakes.
2. Train To Busan (2018)
Another film that I watched very recently and fell instantly in love with. This is by far the best zombie film made in the last 10years, Its got a great storyline and characters that you actually care about, the lead character has some great character development in this one. I also never thought i’d end up crying twice when I went into this film but I did, thats how much I fell in love with these characters. This defiantly isn’t your typical zombie horror film it has so much more to it that makes it stand out from the rest. A sequel for this has also been announced but we don’t know when it will be yet.
- Shawn Of The Dead (2004)
Finally my favourite zombie film of all times comes from my favourite director of all time, Edgar Wright. This was the first ever zombie film that I watched and the film that made me fall in love with the zombie sub genre. its funny, gory, emotional, well directed, well acted and one of the best horror/comedy films out there. No matter how many times I watch this film I never get bored.
Thank you for reading,
